KeyOSC (‘Ordnance Survey Companion’) is an application providing an easy way to access Ordnance Survey MasterMap mapping in the AutoCAD environment. KeyOSC connects to a spatial database providing seamless maps of increasing detail as you zoom in.
KeyOSC is an easy to use set of functions to provide mapping for the CAD professional with performance akin to GIS systems and modern web mapping; and simple plotting configuration tools to ensure standard scale output and rotated views linked to a north point.
KeyOSC enables MasterMap data stored in either an Oracle or SQL Server database to be loaded seamlessly within the AutoCAD environment. It can interact directly with your corporate datasets built using such systems as Dotted eyes' SuperpOSE, Snowflake Software's GO loader or Safe Software's FME. The maps loaded into AutoCAD can be used as a simple, transient overlay, supporting ‘GIS’ activities such as the analysis of road accident locations, or for a base map for your scheme design.
There are a number of features within KeyOSC Mapper that make putting engineering drawings together much quicker. The loading buffer feature is great for producing engineering drawings that cover a long length of road and is very quick and easy to use.
Seamless and fast access to MasterMap data within AutoCAD
Different levels of map detail can be loaded on-screen, or into any shaped area or along a length of road
Quickly generate the extents of a mapping area stored in the database and draw an outline view of the main roads and administrative boundaries.
The KeyGAZETTEER module supplied provides for you to quickly zoom to the start of a selected road or the intersection with another road. The mapping is automatically rendered on-screen.
Automatic loading of data can be controlled by the toggle area command. Save printing costs by setting the area fills to ‘off’.
Load In Area
Mapping can be loaded into specific areas based on any closed polyline. If you later require the area to be expanded you simply edit the boundary and the mapping is reloaded.
Load In Buffer
An alternative way of showing mapping is to show the mapping in a corridor or buffer zone, defined by drawing a centre line and setting an offset distance. You can choose exactly what level of detail is loaded into the buffer area, and the extents of the area can easily be changed as required.
Map Layers and Colours
All mapping features are placed on their own layer in accordance with the Ordnance Survey guidelines. Once loaded, mapping can be changed to grey or to a single specified colour. Default colours can be restored at the click of a button.
Plotting Tools and Utilities
Several plotting tools allow for the easy creation and orientation of viewports in which to show the mapping. In addition north symbols, scale bars and borders can easily be inserted into a layout or model view.
GO Loader is the complete, easy-to-use solution for loading content delivered in Geography Markup Language (GML) into your Oracle (Spatial and Locator), SQL Server 2008 or database. Its unique ‘schema aware’ technology makes it different from any other tool on the market. All GML datasets come with an XML Schema, so just point GO Loader at the schema and it adapts itself to support the dataset.
